Thanks to our friends at  UpRight Derbyshire we can bring some
motogykhana skills day goodness to a new venue.
TO participate as a trainee you must sign up.
But we need the help of our experienced riders who are welcome to join

******Slow Speed Skills Day******
On Saturday 5th October 2024 the UpRight team will be hosting a Slow
Speed Skills day which will be available to any motorcycle riders who
wish to improve their slow speed manoeuvring skills.  If you have ever
struggled to make that U turn are uncomfortable manoeuvring your bike in
crowded car parks then this is the course for you.
The training will be provided by Moto Gymkhana UK West Midlands group
and the cost for a full day of rider training is only going to be £25,
we will even provide tea and coffee.
You won’t need much, just a bike and a licence to ride although this
event is open to riders on a CBT, you will also need normal motorcycle
riding gear.
We are holding the event at Ripley Derbyshire at the Derbyshire Police &
Fire Joint Training Centre:: https://maps.app.goo.gl/aFMN114y9517aVuT6  :: What3Words
///ranged.fled.weeds and the training will take place
between 10am and 4pm and sign in being from 9am.
Many of you will have seen videos of Moto Gymkhana competitions on You
Tube and social media where the riders exhibit amazing skills riding
round a course laid out with cones in a timed event.
What we are holding is NOT a competition, it is a Moto Gymkhana
Experience Day, where the Moto Gymkhana riders who take part in
competitions will be providing assistance and advice to the riders
attending the event.  This is a day that you can attend and practice and
perfect the slow speed manoeuvres that so many people struggle with.
However, if you have seen the Moto Gymkhana events and always fancied a
go this can be the first step to becoming involved with this amazing
sport.
Throughout the day you will be riding your bike around a number of coned
courses which will include slaloms, figure of eights and also full 360°
courses.  As you are able to continually repeat the various exercises
you will become more confident manoeuvring your bike and better
understand the grip available from your tyres, become more comfortable
leaning your bike at slower speeds as well as learning different
techniques for throttle, clutch and brake control and how to use target
fixation for your benefit.  All of this will be happening with expert
guidance from experienced Moto Gymkhana riders.
You can use any make, model or style of bike and any cubic capacity on
this experience day and if you really don’t want to ride your own bike
there will be a limited number of loan bikes available at no extra cost
however, they will be shared so play nicely.
You won’t need much, just a bike, safety gear, and a licence to ride it
including riders on a CBT,
This event will be limited to 30 riders and spaces will be allocated on
a first come first served basis so if you would like to take part then
please email the UpRight team at upright@derbyshire.police.uk .
